Featured Employee of the Month April 2025

Traditions Management is honored to recognize Bill Smithwick, Traditions at Beaumont's dedicated Bus Driver, as this month's Featured Employee! 

Bill has been part of the Beaumont family for nearly three years, and his impact goes far beyond driving—he brings joy, connection, and a true sense of community to their residents. Originally from Tampa, FL, he grew up in Bowling Green, FL, and moved to Kentucky in 1997 to serve as President and CEO of Kentucky Baptist Homes for Children.

Bill has been happily married for 40 years, and he has three children and three grandchildren. When he's not at work, he enjoys reading history and theology, watching documentaries, traveling, and spending quality time with his family.

One of Bill's hidden talents is public speaking - a skill he has honed through years of pastoral ministry, teaching, and HR leadership. But his greatest passion lies in making meaningful connections with residents.

When asked what he loves most about his job, Bill smiled and said, "The interaction with the residents is why I'm here. After retiring from non-profit work, I wanted to find a way to make meaningful connections again. Bringing small moments of joy to people's day is what I love most."

Bill recalled a deeply rewarding experience of being by a resident's side during their final moments. "That was so much more than just being a bus driver."

Moments like these showcase his genuine care and dedication to the residents he serves.

Beaumont's Executive Director, Rebekah Nicholas, shared, "Bill is much more than a bus driver. Our residents adore him and feel safe with him when out on the bus. Employees like Bill truly define our culture of compassionate care, and he is a shining example of our Core Values of Important vs. Necessary, Dignity, Socialization, Service, and Choices."

Bill also credits his supportive administrative team and fantastic supervisor, Amy Webb, for creating a work environment where he can be himself and thrive.
